Rep Steven Long Hosting Shooting Event with Chuck Wright

Representative Steven Long announced Monday that he was hosting a shooting event later this month with Spartanburg Sheriff Chuck Wright. There are a limited amount of free tickets for teachers who want to participate. No experience is required to attend. New shooters will be required to sit through a brief safety instructional video and demonstrate an understanding of range safety rules in order to shoot. Range safety officers will be on hand to help shooters, answer questions, and ensure a safe event.

Rep Long will also announce the winners of his teacher gun giveaway at this event. The drawing entries will close on Friday March 23rd at midnight.
Schell Arms, an Inman-based Federal Firearms Licensed business, has agreed to help with the acquisition and transfer of the firearms for the giveaway, pending a successfully completed background check as required by law. The handgun will be a Smith & Wesson M&P® Shield™ 9mm. Winning teachers will also receive a free CWP class.

“This is going to be a lot of fun and it’ll also be a good educational experience for someone who hasn’t shot before,” Long said. “We’ve had a lot of success with our gun giveaway. We had well over a thousand people enter the drawing. I thought this would be a great way to end the event and thank everyone for their support.”

The shooting event is being held at C&C Ammo Indoor Range on Asheville Hwy in Boiling Springs. C&C Ammo has also partnered with Rep Long for the giveaway and will provide the CWP class at no cost to the winner. (

Tickets for non-teachers are only $30 and include range time, eye & ear protection, targets, a 50 count box of ammo, and a gun rental if needed. Participants are welcome to bring their own handgun up to .45 caliber and can bring extra ammo of their own if they’d like.
There are 2 shooting times: 6pm or 7pm. There will be brief remarks along with the drawing announcement at 7pm.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite at: (

Rep Long holds a CWP, is an avid shooter, and was endorsed by the National Rifle Association in his 2016 campaign for public office along with other pro-Second Amendment groups.
