Ever-increasing government control hurts our state’s economy.

Eliminating burdensome regulations and cutting taxes will make it easier for families and businesses to thrive. South Carolina should make cuts to bureaucratic agencies and end corporate welfare. Secretive slush funds that are used to dole out large sums of cash to big businesses need to be eliminated. Small business owners and hard working taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to subsidize cronyism. South Carolina also needs to reduce the income tax rate, which is one of the highest in the region.

We cannot effectively compete with our neighboring states when both of them have a lower tax rate than ours. Reducing our tax rate will attract new businesses, allow for the growth of current businesses, and ultimately improve our state’s economy. Steven will never support a tax increase and will propose legislation to cut taxes and reduce the role of government in the lives of average South Carolinians.
